Odisha Govt Unveils Rs 2.65 Lakh Crore Budget for FY’25

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government unveiled a Rs 2.65 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday, marking a significant increase from the previous year’s estimate. The budget, presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also serves as the finance minister, emphasizes investments in agriculture and irrigation.

The new budget represents a 15 percent increase over the Rs 2.30 lakh crore allocated for the 2023-24 fiscal year. Notably, the budget includes a substantial allocation of Rs 33,919 crore for agriculture, which is approximately 36 percent higher than last year’s funding.

Majhi described the budget as a major initiative by the BJP government, aiming to bolster the state’s agricultural sector and enhance irrigation infrastructure. This budget reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting key sectors and driving economic growth in Odisha.
