Record 24 LPU Students to Represent India at Paris Olympics 2024

New Delhi: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has achieved a remarkable milestone as 24 of its students have been selected to represent India at the Paris 2024 Olympics, making up 21% of the Indian team. This significant achievement underscores LPU’s dedication to sports and education excellence.
The university’s athletes will compete in various disciplines including javelin, wrestling, hockey, athletics, weightlifting, shooting, and boxing. Notable LPU athletes include Neeraj Chopra, a gold medalist in men’s javelin at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a star weightlifter in the Women’s 49 kg category. The Indian hockey team features several LPU students, including Captain Harmanpreet Singh and others.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Founder Chancellor of LPU, expressed immense pride, stating, “Having 24 students in the 2024 Olympics is a monumental achievement for us. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and confident they will bring honor to the nation.”
LPU has invested significantly in sports infrastructure and provides 100% scholarships to promising athletes, contributing to their success. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, 13 LPU students competed, securing three medals. With an increased contingent of 24 students for Paris 2024, LPU continues to set high standards in sports excellence.
