Odisha Govt Announces Morning Classes in Schools from April 2 Due to Heatwave

In response to rising temperatures, the Odisha government has announced that all schools across the state will conduct morning classes starting April 2. The decision aims to protect students from the extreme summer heat.

Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, stated that the ongoing school examinations will conclude on March 27, and regular classes will resume in the morning shift from April 2.

As per the directive, Anganwadi centres will also operate during the morning hours, from 7 am to 9 am, to ensure the safety and well-being of young children amid the heatwave conditions.

The state government has been closely monitoring weather forecasts, and officials have urged schools to take necessary precautions, including providing adequate drinking water and ensuring proper ventilation in classrooms.

With temperatures expected to rise further in the coming months, the government is likely to introduce additional measures to mitigate the impact of extreme heat on students and teachers.
