Odisha Government to Investigate Land Allotment Irregularities for BJD Headquarters

The Odisha government has announced an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of land for the construction of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) state headquarters, Sankha Bhavan, located in the heart of the state capital. This decision was disclosed by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday.

“The alleged irregularities in land allotment for Biju Janata Dal (BJD) office will be thoroughly probed. The people responsible for the alleged irregularities will certainly be punished,” Minister Pujari stated.

The BJD, led by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has dismissed the allegations, claiming that the BJP government is displaying intolerance towards the opposition party. A senior BJD spokesperson labeled the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.

“The BJP government’s intolerance towards the opposition is evident in these unfounded allegations. We have followed all legal procedures in acquiring the land,” a BJD representative responded.

The controversy centers around the allocation of prime land in Bhubaneswar for the construction of Sankha Bhavan, the BJD’s headquarters. Critics have raised concerns about potential favoritism and violations of land allotment policies.

The Odisha government has assured a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the matter, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability. This development is likely to intensify the political rivalry between the ruling BJP and the opposition BJD in the state.

As the investigation progresses, both parties are expected to engage in further exchanges, making this a significant political issue in Odisha. The outcome of the probe will be closely watched by political observers and the public alike.
