The Odisha government has suspended Sanjukta Mohanty, the Sarpanch of Gramnandipur Gram Panchayat in Jajpur district, over allegations of misappropriating public funds amounting to ₹11.72 lakh, an official order stated on Thursday.

According to the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, the embezzled funds were sanctioned by the Central Finance Commission (CFC) for the development of the panchayat under various welfare schemes. The alleged financial irregularities prompted the government to take immediate action against the Sarpanch.

Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the matter to assess the extent of fund mismanagement. Strict measures are being enforced to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.

The suspension serves as a warning to public representatives against any misuse of government funds. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
