Odisha experiences heatwave; Jharsuguda hits 43.5°C

Odisha Sees Rise in Temperature, Jharsuguda Hottest at 43.5°C

Odisha experienced a rise in daytime temperatures on Sunday due to a reduction in thundershower activity across the state. The hottest location was Jharsuguda in the western region, where the mercury soared to a scorching 43.5°C.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 11 places in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or more. Bolangir followed closely with 42.4°C, while Titilagarh, Sambalpur, and Sundergarh registered temperatures above 41°C. Other areas, including Boudh, Hirakud, and Sonepur, reported highs ranging from 40.1°C to 41.5°C.

The rise in temperatures has raised concerns about the impact on daily life, especially in areas where the heat is more intense. Local authorities have advised residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses and stay hydrated.
