Odisha Doubles Police Uniform Allowance

Odisha Government Doubles Uniform Allowance for Police Personnel

In a significant move to support state police personnel, the Odisha government has approved a proposal to double the annual uniform allowance for officers across several ranks. The decision was announced through an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday evening.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi gave his nod to the Home Department’s proposal, which increases the uniform allowance from sepoy-constable level up to inspector-rank officers.

As per the revised structure, uniform allowance for inspectors has been raised from ₹4,300 to ₹8,600, while sub-inspectors will now receive ₹8,400 instead of ₹4,200.

Alongside this, the Chief Minister also announced an increase in the ‘extra duty incentive’ for constables, havildars, and sepoys — a move aimed at recognizing and rewarding the extra efforts of on-ground police personnel.

The revised allowances are expected to boost morale and provide better support to the state’s law enforcement officers.
