Odisha Congress Leaders Unanimously Resolve to Accept AICC’s Decision on New PCC Chief

In a significant development, senior Congress leaders in Odisha unanimously passed a resolution on Monday, pledging to abide by the decision of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) regarding the appointment of a new state unit chief. The move came during a crucial meeting aimed at resolving the prolonged leadership vacuum in the state Congress unit.
The meeting was presided over by Charan Das Mahant, a member of the Congress Election Committee, who engaged in marathon discussions with key stakeholders, including former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) presidents, sitting MLAs, and MPs. The extensive consultations were focused on garnering consensus and reinforcing party unity.
“The party leaders have expressed full confidence in the AICC’s decision-making process. Everyone is on board with the new appointment, and our objective is to rejuvenate the Congress in Odisha under the incoming leadership,” Mahant said, emphasizing the unified stand taken by the state leaders.
The PCC chief position has remained vacant for over three-and-a-half months after the AICC dissolved the state unit. The prolonged delay has sparked concerns over the party’s organizational strength and preparedness for upcoming political challenges.
Party insiders suggest that the decision to entrust AICC with the selection of the new state president reflects a desire to streamline party functioning and strategize for future electoral battles in Odisha. The resolution also signals a critical step toward resolving internal differences and strengthening the Congress ahead of major electoral contests.
Further announcements from the AICC regarding the new appointment are awaited and are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s strategy in Odisha.
