AM/NS India Committed to Odisha Mega Steel Project: Minister

Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Swain on Monday dismissed claims that ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) is planning to shift its proposed mega steel project out of the state. The minister firmly stated that the company remains committed to its investment in Odisha.
Swain criticized the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for allegedly misleading the public by spreading rumors about the project’s relocation. He emphasized that the state government has conducted two review meetings with AM/NS India, during which the company reaffirmed its commitment.
“There is no possibility of AM/NS India withdrawing from Odisha. The company has shown significant interest in moving forward with the project,” said Swain. He added that approximately 200 company officials, including experts from India and Japan, are actively engaged in making the Odisha steel plant a reality.
The proposed mega steel plant, which is expected to boost Odisha’s industrial landscape, has been a focal point of development plans. The minister’s assurance comes as a strategic effort to maintain investor confidence and reinforce the state’s reputation as a key industrial hub.
Further details about the project timeline and investment plans are awaited as AM/NS India progresses with its operations in Odisha.
