Odisha CM Urges Youth to Join Civil Defence as Volunteers
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday appealed to the youth of the state to actively participate in civil defence initiatives, urging them to register as volunteers to contribute to national service and public safety.
In a video message, the Chief Minister emphasized the crucial role of the youth in nation-building. “The youth are the hope, strength, and trust of the nation,” Majhi said, calling upon them to embody the spirit of nationalism by joining civil defence organisations.
Highlighting the importance of civic responsibility, Majhi said, “The security of the lives and property of the common people is the responsibility of all of us. Security and service are our top responsibilities.”
The Chief Minister’s appeal comes amid growing recognition of the importance of civil defence units, especially in disaster-prone regions like Odisha, which frequently faces cyclones and other natural calamities. These volunteer forces assist in emergency response, rescue operations, and community awareness programs.
Majhi encouraged young people to view civil defence not just as a duty, but as an opportunity to serve the nation with pride and dedication. The state government is expected to launch outreach initiatives in educational institutions and public forums to boost volunteer enlistment in the coming weeks.
