Odisha CM Urges New Government Recruits to Uphold Integrity and Serve Public
Bhubaneswar, June 16 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday urged newly appointed government employees to serve with integrity, dedication, and a commitment to public welfare, as he addressed a recruitment fair organized to fill 964 posts across five state departments.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of honesty and public service, encouraging the recruits to remain above corruption and ensure effective implementation of various government schemes.
The recruitment drive included appointments to 563 posts in the Works Department, 62 in the Water Resources Department, 117 in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, 204 in the Housing and Urban Development Department, and 18 in the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department. Roles filled included Junior Engineer, Junior Enforcement Officer, Tracer, Legal Metrology Inspector, and Junior Accountant.
Congratulating the new appointees, CM Majhi said, “You are the face of the government. The people will see their hopes fulfilled through your service. Work sincerely to uphold the trust placed in you.”
He also highlighted the government’s employment-centric approach, noting that 28,346 government jobs have already been provided in the short span since the new administration assumed office. “We aim to fill 1.5 lakh government posts in the next five years. This is a historic move,” he stated.
Majhi further revealed that the state has also facilitated the employment of 45,000 youths in the private sector during the government’s first year in office.
Discussing the state’s flagship employment initiative, Utkarsha Odisha 2025, the CM said, “So far, 12.90 lakh employment opportunities have been generated across 16 sectors with investments worth Rs 17 lakh crore.” He added that in just the past five months, 56 industrial units were either inaugurated or had foundation stones laid, creating over 1.10 lakh new jobs.
Ministers Krishnachandra Patra (Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare), Dr. Krishnachandra Mahapatra (Housing and Urban Development), Ravi Narayan (Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water), and Prithviraj Harichandan (Works) also addressed the gathering and congratulated the new recruits.
The event showcased the government’s focus on youth empowerment, transparent recruitment, and accelerated development as central pillars of its governance agenda.
