Odisha Approves ₹1.51 Lakh Crore Industrial Projects, Over 60,000 Jobs Expected

Bhubaneswar, June 16 : The Odisha Government on Monday gave the green light to eight transformative industrial projects worth ₹1,51,239.50 crore, projected to create over 60,200 job opportunities across six districts. The approvals were granted at the 41st High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Spanning strategic sectors like aluminium, steel, chemicals, textiles, and downstream metal industries, the projects reaffirm Odisha’s growing industrial prowess.

Mega Aluminium Project by Vedanta

In a major push to the aluminium sector, Vedanta Ltd will establish a 3 MTPA aluminium smelter and a 4,900 MW captive power plant in Dhenkanal, investing a record ₹1.28 lakh crore. The project alone is expected to create 30,000 jobs, reinforcing Odisha’s reputation as a global aluminium hub.

Other Key Investments

  • SRF Ltd: ₹10,000 crore for a specialty chemicals and refrigerant unit in Ganjam.
  • Jindal India Steel Tech Ltd: ₹3,600 crore for a specialty steel facility in Dhenkanal.
  • Shyam Steel Manufacturing Ltd: ₹2,490 crore for an integrated steel plant and DI pipe unit in Keonjhar.
  • Linde India Ltd: ₹1,303.5 crore to set up an Air Separation Unit in Jajpur.
  • Star Metal Works Pvt Ltd: ₹2,291 crore for a hot strip, cold rolling, and Steckel mill in Sambalpur.
  • Supreme Metals Export Pvt Ltd: ₹1,500 crore for a TMT bars and wire rods rolling mill in Keonjhar.
  • Sportking India Ltd: ₹2,055 crore for a yarn manufacturing unit in Khordha.

Chief Minister’s Vision

CM Majhi emphasized that since assuming office, the state government has held six HLCA meetings and approved 62 projects with a cumulative investment potential of ₹5.67 lakh crore, aiming to create 2.42 lakh jobs.

He underlined that the government’s commitment to fast-tracking industrial development aligns with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’ and ‘Samruddha Odisha by 2036’.

“Odisha is confidently moving toward becoming a top industrial and investment destination in India,” the Chief Minister asserted.
