Odisha CM hails GST reforms boosting swadeshi

GST Reforms to Boost ‘Swadeshi’ Consumption, Says Odisha CM

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday hailed the recently introduced GST reforms, stating that they will encourage greater consumption of ‘swadeshi’ goods and services, thereby strengthening the country’s economy.

The GST Council, comprising the Centre and states, had announced a reduction in tax rates on various goods and services effective from September 22, coinciding with the first day of Navratri.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Majhi wrote: “Today, 22nd September 2025, is to get etched in history as an iconic date as Bharat rolls out the Next-Generation GST reforms under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi Ji.”

The Chief Minister asserted that the reforms would make the tax regime more people-friendly and act as a catalyst for boosting local industries, artisans, and entrepreneurs. He also emphasized that prioritizing domestic products would pave the way for a resilient and self-reliant economy.

The BJP-led state government has already outlined its support measures to help Odisha’s small-scale industries and MSMEs take advantage of the new tax regime.
