Odisha CM Felicitates First Didayi Tribal Girl to Crack NEET

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday felicitated Champa Raspada, the first student from the Didayi tribal community of Malkangiri district to qualify for an MBBS course after clearing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The Chief Minister congratulated Champa on her achievement, wished her a bright future, and presented her with a laptop. “With good education and dedication, you can become a doctor and serve people in need. That will be the true success of your journey,” Majhi told her.

Champa, expressing gratitude for the recognition, said the Chief Minister’s blessings would inspire her to pursue her dream with greater determination.

Belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) category, Champa has become the first woman from the Didayi community and the Scheduled Tribe population of Malkangiri district to qualify for MBBS. She will now pursue her medical studies at Fakir Mohan Medical College, Balasore.

A resident of Amlibeda village in Muduliguda, Champa comes from a large family dependent on agriculture. Despite financial hardships and limited resources, she nurtured the dream of becoming a doctor from an early age.

She completed her Class 10 from Chitrakonda SSD School and her higher secondary education from Govindapali Higher Secondary SSD School, where she excelled with distinction. Champa credited IRODOV Classes and her teacher Utkal Keshari Das for their guidance in her preparation for NEET 2025.

Her aspiration is to become a gynaecologist and serve women and children in her community, particularly those in remote and inaccessible regions of Malkangiri.

Champa’s success has brought immense pride to her family and community, marking a milestone achievement for the Didayi tribe and a source of inspiration for other young students from vulnerable tribal groups in Odisha.
