Odisha CM disburses Rs 315 crore under Subhadra Yojana

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday disbursed over Rs 315 crore to the bank accounts of more than 4.57 lakh beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana, describing it as the state’s biggest women-centric welfare scheme since Independence.

At a state-level programme, the chief minister transferred Rs 5,000 each to the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), marking the latest phase of financial assistance under the flagship scheme.

Majhi said the Subhadra Yojana aims to empower women economically and socially by providing annual assistance of Rs 10,000 to all eligible women in the age group of 21 to 60 years, in two equal instalments.

He added that more than one crore women across the state are currently benefiting from the scheme, which is intended to strengthen household incomes, promote financial inclusion and enhance the role of women in socio-economic development.

Senior officials and beneficiaries attended the programme, which highlighted the government’s focus on women’s welfare and inclusive growth in Odisha.
