Odisha CM Directs Officials to Prevent Power Cuts Amid Scorching Heatwave

Amid the ongoing heatwave in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during peak hours to help residents cope with the extreme weather conditions.

Reviewing the state’s preparedness to tackle the heatwave on Tuesday evening, Majhi emphasized that power outages should be strictly avoided from 11 AM to 5 PM and from 9 PM to 6 AM. The directive aims to provide relief to people who are struggling with soaring temperatures, an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.

The CM also urged the Energy Department to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to prevent unannounced power cuts. Additionally, he directed officials to be on high alert during thunderstorms to minimize the risk of outages caused by weather disturbances.

Odisha has been experiencing severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring across several districts. The government has been taking proactive steps to ensure public safety and convenience, with the latest power supply directive being a key measure to mitigate the impact of the extreme heat.

Authorities have been instructed to maintain adequate power supply and swiftly address any disruptions, ensuring that essential services and daily activities are not affected by electricity shortages.
