Odisha CM Approves Creation of 2,500 New Home Guard Posts to Strengthen Law and Order

Bhubaneswar, April 15 — In a significant move to bolster the state’s security infrastructure, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday approved the creation of 2,500 new Home Guard posts. This decision aims to strengthen law and order in the state by enhancing the capacity of the Home Guard force.

With the approval of these new posts, the total number of Home Guards in Odisha will rise from the existing 17,675 to 20,175. This increase is part of the state government’s broader effort to address rising security needs and improve policing in various districts.

Earlier, Chief Minister Majhi had announced plans to expand the state police force, with an additional 12,000 posts to be created across different branches of the Odisha Police. These steps align with the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens, especially in the face of emerging challenges in law enforcement.

The creation of new Home Guard posts is expected to have a positive impact on maintaining public order and responding to emergencies in various parts of the state. The move has been widely welcomed by security experts and officials who believe that strengthening local policing resources will significantly contribute to a safer Odisha.
