Odisha BJP Assures Chit Fund Refunds

All Chit Fund Victims Will Get Their Money Back, Assures Odisha BJP Chief

Bhubaneswar, July 4 — Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal on Thursday assured that all eligible victims of the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state will receive their money back. Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, Samal said that the BJP government has already started identifying affected depositors and is actively processing refunds.

Highlighting the government’s swift action, Samal said that within just one year in office, the BJP administration has refunded the money of 1,26,137 depositors. He further informed that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced plans to refund another five lakh eligible depositors over the next three to four months, in a phased manner.

Samal came down heavily on the previous BJD-led government, accusing it of betraying the trust of the people by allowing nearly 174 chit fund companies to defraud thousands of innocent investors. He alleged that several BJD ministers, MPs, and MLAs were complicit in the scam, with some even facing jail time.

“People of Odisha invested their hard-earned money in these companies because they trusted the government of the time. That trust was broken,” Samal stated. He also criticized the BJD for failing to implement the promised corpus fund for the victims and for not releasing the findings of the Commission of Inquiry into the scam.

Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment made in its election manifesto, Samal said that every eligible depositor will be repaid after submitting valid evidence. He added that a dedicated mechanism would be put in place to facilitate and monitor the refund process efficiently.

The assurance is expected to bring a sense of relief to thousands of families across Odisha who have been waiting for justice for years after falling prey to fraudulent financial schemes.
