Odisha Aims to Plant 5 Crore Saplings under ‘Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign
In a significant environmental initiative, the Odisha government has announced plans to plant five crore saplings under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed this ambitious target during a recent address in Bhubaneswar.
“The ‘Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which is being conducted nationwide, is also actively underway in Odisha. Any individual can participate by planting a sapling and uploading photos,” stated Chief Minister Majhi.
He further disclosed that Odisha has taken a leading role in the campaign, with 1.48 lakh photos already uploaded, marking the highest participation across the country. Kerala follows closely behind in second place.
The initiative underscores Odisha’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Through widespread participation, the state aims to enhance green cover and contribute significantly to national efforts in combating climate change.
