Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, PSA and Netflix launch ‘Inspiring Innovators’ skilling initiative
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, in collaboration with Netflix, today concluded the ‘Inspiring Innovators – Naye Bharat Ki Nayi Pehchaaan’ initiative, a creative skilling programme designed to showcase India’s emerging social innovation ecosystem.
Implemented in partnership with Graphiti Studios, the initiative combined storytelling and hands-on skilling to highlight innovations with social impact. As part of the programme, eight Indian start-ups identified by the PSA were featured through short animated films created by students from eight universities, including the National Institute of Design, Chitkara University, and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. Voiceovers for the films were provided by participants from Voicebox, a Netflix-NFDC skilling initiative, while the programme’s original anthem was performed by students from the Shankar Mahadevan Academy.
Addressing the event, Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, emphasized the role of storytelling in taking Indian narratives to global audiences, supporting the Government’s efforts to strengthen the creative economy and intellectual property frameworks. He stated, “Initiatives like Inspiring Innovators highlight how creativity can be applied in service of society.”
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, PSA, said the initiative bridges innovation, policy, and talent development by providing students with practical experience while highlighting innovations of social relevance.
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry, observed that the programme exemplifies how storytelling can evolve into meaningful skilling and empowerment, reflecting the professionalism and creativity of India’s young talent. Mahima Kaul, Director, Global Affairs, Netflix India, added that the initiative underscores Netflix’s commitment to upskilling and fostering a vibrant creative ecosystem in India.
The eight films spotlight start-ups driving impactful innovation:
- NeoMotion – custom mobility solutions for persons with disabilities.
- Blind Vision Foundation – AI-powered smart glasses for the visually impaired.
- Healthcare Global Enterprises (Innaumation) – affordable voice prostheses for throat cancer survivors.
- Innogle – AI and underwater tech for marine safety and aquaculture.
- CultYvate – AI-driven irrigation for climate-resilient farming.
- WeVOIS Labs – tech-enabled urban waste management.
- Greengine Environmental Technologies – microalgae-based carbon capture.
- LCB Fertilizers – converting waste into bio-nano fertilizers.
These films are now available for viewing on Netflix India’s YouTube channel. The programme aligns with the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, which supports underrepresented communities in entertainment while providing skilling and career opportunities for emerging talent.
The initiative reflects India’s growing focus on innovation, skill development, and socially relevant storytelling, in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
