Neeraj Chopra Leads Record Indian Contingent at Doha Diamond League
Doha, May 11, 2025 – Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will headline a record four-member Indian contingent at the 2025 Doha Diamond League on May 16. This marks India’s largest-ever representation at a Diamond League event. Chopra, the national record holder with a best throw of 89.94m, has previously secured victories in Doha in 2023 and 2024. He aims to continue his dominance in the men’s javelin throw, where he will face formidable competitors like two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, 2024 winner Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, and Olympic bronze medalist Julius Yego of Kenya.
Joining Chopra in the men’s javelin throw is Kishore Jena, who finished ninth in the 2024 edition with a throw of 76.31m. This year, Jena is eager to improve upon his performance and make a significant impact.
Additionally, national record holders Gulveer Singh and Parul Chaudhary will compete in the men’s 5000m and women’s 3000m steeplechase events, respectively. Singh is set to make his Diamond League debut, while Chaudhary aims to build on her previous successes.
The Doha Diamond League is a premier track and field meeting, attracting top athletes from around the world. This year’s event promises to showcase exceptional performances and further elevate India’s presence in international athletics.
