Naveen slams Odisha BJP, backs BJD

Naveen Patnaik Slams Odisha Government, Seeks Support for BJD in Nuapada Bypoll

Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 : Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik launched a sharp attack on the BJP government in Odisha, accusing it of misleading the public with hollow promises and propaganda. Addressing a massive roadshow at Khariar Road and Nuapada on Thursday, Patnaik urged people to vote for BJD candidate Snehangini Churia in the upcoming Nuapada Assembly bypoll scheduled for November 11.

Patnaik said, “Simply painting over issues will not bring progress. A government cannot run on empty promises.” He alleged that development across Odisha had come to a standstill under the current BJP regime, which he said has failed to deliver during its 500 days in office.

Highlighting achievements under BJD’s previous tenure, the former Chief Minister said sectors like education, healthcare, transportation, irrigation, and tribal welfare witnessed remarkable growth. “In Nuapada alone, thousands of acres of land received irrigation facilities, and the region saw major progress in drinking water supply. The Biju Expressway opened new avenues for economic development,” he added.

Patnaik further criticized the BJP government for not fulfilling key promises such as providing 300 free electricity units, Rs. 3,500 monthly pensions, timely availability of urea fertilizer to farmers, and adequate employment opportunities for the youth.

Referring to the women empowerment initiative, he said that under Mission Shakti, mothers are still struggling to avail loans and the exploitative practice of ‘Kothni’ continues unchecked.

“In these 500 days, the people have received only deception and double-deception,” Patnaik asserted. “Governments can lie, candidates can steal, but they cannot win people’s hearts. The anger and sorrow of the common people are still visible in Nuapada.”

The BJD chief appealed to the voters to support the party’s conch symbol and ensure the victory of Snehangini Churia, urging her to dedicate herself to the service of the people of Nuapada.
