PM Modi Highlights Women Empowerment at Varanasi Event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed a massive Mahila Sammelan in Varanasi, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth around ₹6,350 crore.

Emphasising the central role of women in nation-building, Modi described “Nari Shakti” as the strongest pillar of a developed India and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing women’s participation in policy-making.

During the event, the Prime Minister also flagged off two Amrit Bharat trains, improving connectivity between key religious and economic centres, including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Pune and Mumbai. He said these initiatives would boost regional development and provide better travel options for citizens.

Highlighting various welfare measures, Modi noted that government schemes have prioritised women’s empowerment through initiatives such as financial inclusion, housing, sanitation, and healthcare. He pointed to the expansion of Self-Help Groups, increased economic participation, and the rise of “Lakhpati Didis” as indicators of progress.

The Prime Minister also reiterated his commitment to implementing women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, seeking public support to achieve the goal.

Stressing the importance of safety and dignity, he said recent legal reforms and expanded support systems have strengthened security for women across the country.

The event underscored the government’s focus on inclusive growth, with women positioned at the centre of India’s development agenda.
