MCL Holds Strategic Meet to Boost Coal Quality and Transparency

Bhubaneswar, July 12 : Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a leading Public Sector Undertaking under Coal India Ltd., held a high-level strategic meeting on Friday at its headquarters to reinforce coal quality standards and strengthen transparency in the sampling process.

The session was chaired by Jugal Kumar Borah, Director (Technical/Operations), who highlighted the importance of accurate ground-level sampling and strict adherence to quality protocols. Emphasizing consistency and credibility, Borah urged Area Quality Managers to adopt a meticulous approach in sampling and take proactive steps to ensure that only high-quality coal reaches consumers.

The meeting was aimed at enhancing trust and accountability in coal supply and brought together representatives from PFC-empanelled third-party sampling agencies, including the Quality Council of India, QSS Pvt. Ltd., KCS Inspection Pvt. Ltd., Cotecna Pvt. Ltd., and Inspectorate Griffith India Pvt. Ltd.

Senior officials and Area Quality Managers from various operational zones of MCL also participated in the session. Discussions centered on streamlining coordination between MCL and third-party agencies, adopting advanced sampling techniques, and improving monitoring mechanisms at loading points.

“This strategic engagement is a reflection of MCL’s commitment to maintaining high standards in coal production and delivery. Our focus remains on transparency, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction,” said Borah.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need for continuous training, adoption of modern technology, and robust internal checks to maintain uniform quality benchmarks across all MCL units.
