KIMS Cancer Centre Cures Skin Lymphoma Patient with Advanced Electron Beam Therapy

Bhubaneswar, July 12 : In a significant medical achievement, the KIMS Cancer Centre in Bhubaneswar has successfully cured a patient suffering from Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer, using advanced Electron Beam Therapy (EBT). The patient, a middle-aged resident from central Odisha, had been enduring painful, oozing nodular skin lesions across the body caused by the cancer. Prior to reaching KIMS, the individual had undergone surgery and multiple cycles of chemotherapy, but without lasting relief or recovery.

Upon admission to KIMS, the patient was evaluated by a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Sthiti Das, Senior Consultant at the Department of Radiation Oncology. Given the nature and extent of the disease, the team opted for Electron Beam Therapy—a specialized form of radiation therapy that targets surface-level cancers with high accuracy.

“Electron Beam Therapy allows us to focus the radiation dose on the affected areas of the skin while sparing deeper tissues from exposure,” explained Dr. Das. “This makes it ideal for treating conditions like cutaneous lymphomas.”

The patient underwent a structured treatment plan involving regular EBT sessions over a span of three and a half weeks. The therapy was well tolerated and led to complete regression of the lesions. Post-treatment evaluations showed a full recovery, with no further symptoms reported and significant improvement in quality of life.
