Malla Reddy Hospital Treats Rare Cancer Successfully

Malla Reddy Narayana Cancer Hospital Successfully Treats Rare Case of Primary Peritoneal Ewing’s Sarcoma Using Advanced HIPEC Surgery

Malla Reddy Narayana Cancer Hospital, located in Suraram, Telangana, has achieved a medical milestone by successfully treating a rare and complex case of Primary Peritoneal Ewing’s Sarcoma in a 24-year-old patient. The groundbreaking treatment, which involved Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) followed by Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), offers new hope for patients with this aggressive and exceptionally rare malignancy.

The patient, Gautham Kumar, had previously undergone two lines of chemotherapy at another institute before seeking treatment at Malla Reddy Narayana Cancer Hospital. His diagnosis of Primary Peritoneal Ewing’s Sarcoma—a type of cancer that typically does not occur in the peritoneum—posed significant challenges. The treatment, requiring a high level of precision and expertise, was led by Dr. Harish Dara, Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology, and a multidisciplinary oncology team.

At the press meet held today, hospital officials highlighted the critical role of advanced surgical procedures like CRS and HIPEC in treating rare cancers. These therapies, which involve the removal of visible tumors followed by the direct application of heated chemotherapy into the abdomen, are revolutionizing cancer treatment for complex cases.

This achievement marks a significant advancement in cancer care and underlines the hospital’s commitment to providing world-class, innovative treatments for patients facing challenging and rare malignancies.
