Odisha CM Inaugurates Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi Direct Flight Service
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in boosting international connectivity from the state.
The inaugural IndiGo flight carrying 180 passengers took off from the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Majhi said the launch of this route would not only benefit the large Odia diaspora in the Middle East but also open new avenues for tourism and trade.
“This direct flight to Abu Dhabi is a historic step in connecting Odisha with the global economy. It will strengthen people-to-people ties and promote business and tourism,” Majhi said.
In a parallel development, 50 tonnes of mangoes produced in Odisha have also been exported to Abu Dhabi, showcasing the state’s growing potential in agri-exports. “This is a proud moment for our farmers and a step towards making Odisha a key player in global trade,” he added.
The direct flight service is expected to significantly ease travel for Odias residing in the UAE and encourage more investments and tourism in Odisha.
