Low Pressure To Trigger Odisha Rainfall

Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal To Bring Rainfall in Odisha
A low-pressure area formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the north Sri Lanka coast on Monday is likely to trigger light to moderate rainfall in parts of Odisha over the next six days, according to the India Meteorological Department.
In its morning bulletin, the IMD said the weather system developed under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka region.
“A low-pressure area has formed at 5.30 am over southwest Bay of Bengal off north Sri Lanka coast, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level,” the IMD stated.
The weather agency said the system is expected to intensify further during the next 48 hours. Under its influence, several districts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by cloudy skies and gusty winds in some areas.
The development is expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat and humid conditions across the state. Authorities are closely monitoring the movement and intensity of the system, while fishermen have been advised to remain cautious over adjoining sea areas.
The IMD is expected to issue further updates and district-wise weather advisories as the system progresses over the Bay of Bengal.
