Lakshya Sen Exits French Open After First-Round Loss; Rohan-Ruthvika Pair Advance

India’s badminton ace Lakshya Sen made an early exit from the French Open Super 750 tournament on Tuesday after losing in straight games to Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen in the men’s singles opening round.
Lakshya, who recently reached the finals of the Hong Kong Open, looked out of rhythm throughout the match and failed to find his footing against the world No. 29 Irish shuttler. He went down 7-21, 16-21, ending his campaign in just 33 minutes.
In contrast, India’s Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde began their campaign on a positive note in the mixed doubles category. The duo produced a strong all-round performance to defeat Ukraine’s Oleksii Titov and Yevheniia Kantemyr in straight games, 21-12, 21-19, to advance to the next round.
While Lakshya’s early exit came as a disappointment to Indian fans, the promising start by Rohan and Ruthvika has kept India’s hopes alive in the tournament as they look to build momentum in the upcoming rounds.
