Kenvue, API Launch India’s First Cough Clinics

Kenvue Partners with API to Launch India’s First Cough Clinics

Kenvue, a leading consumer health company and makers of Benadryl cough syrup, on Friday announced the launch of India’s first-ever ‘Cough Clinics’ in collaboration with the Association of Physicians of India (API), marking a significant milestone in respiratory care innovation.

As part of this industry-first initiative, Kenvue will set up 10 Cough Centres of Excellence across the country. These centres will host the specialized ‘Cough Clinics’ aimed at standardizing the diagnosis and management of cough, one of the most common yet often mismanaged symptoms in clinical practice.

In a statement, the company said the clinics will promote scientific best practices in cough evaluation and help expand the use of evidence-based treatments. The initiative is designed to train healthcare professionals and improve patient outcomes through a better understanding of the nature and treatment of cough.

“We are working with healthcare professionals to raise awareness of non-bronchodilator formulations for productive cough, since there is enough clinical evidence that not all productive coughs require bronchodilators,” said Prashant Shinde, Business Unit Head, Self-Care, Kenvue India.

Kenvue emphasized that the initiative underscores its commitment to scientific advancement and public health, and aims to bridge the gap between patient needs and effective, rational treatment of cough symptoms.

The clinics are expected to benefit both urban and semi-urban populations by improving access to specialized cough care and educating physicians on updated treatment protocols.
