Karnataka Swimmers Nataraj and Desinghu Win Seventh Golds, Continue Fierce Rivalry

Haldwani: Karnataka swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu both claimed their seventh gold medals at the ongoing National Games on Monday, continuing their fierce rivalry and solidifying their positions as potential top athletes of the event.

Desinghu, the 14-year-old prodigy, set a new Games record in the women’s 400m freestyle, clocking 4 minutes and 24.60 seconds to secure the gold. She later teamed up with Nataraj and two other swimmers—Akash Mani and Nina Venkatesh—to win the gold in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 3 minutes and 41.03 seconds.

Desinghu’s victory in the 400m freestyle and the relay gold added to her growing reputation as one of India’s brightest young talents in swimming. Meanwhile, Nataraj, already a dominant force in the pool, continued to build on his impressive performance at the Games.

Their consistent victories have made the rivalry between Nataraj and Desinghu one of the highlights of the National Games, with both swimmers vying for the coveted title of the best male and female athletes of the competition.

The swimmers’ success is also a testament to Karnataka’s rising prominence in Indian swimming, with both Nataraj and Desinghu looking set to add more medals in the upcoming events.
