18-Year-Old Jharkhand Maoist Surrenders to Odisha Police
An 18-year-old Maoist operative from Jharkhand surrendered before Odisha Police here on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
The surrendered Maoist has been identified as Umblen Honhaga, also known as Prabhu, a member of the local guerrilla squad of the CPI (Maoist).
According to police, Umblen hails from Halamuli village under the Chhotanagra police station in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. Details of the circumstances leading to his surrender are being verified by the authorities.
Senior police officials said the development is part of ongoing efforts to encourage insurgents to return to the mainstream and strengthen law and order in the region.
Authorities are likely to interrogate him to gain insights into Maoist activities and networks across Odisha and Jharkhand.
