India Emerges as Global Leader in ML-Driven Scientific Research: Report
India has rapidly positioned itself as one of the world’s most influential hubs for machine learning (ML)–enabled scientific research, according to the newly released ML Global Impact Report 2025 by Marktechpost. The findings highlight India’s accelerating role in AI-driven science, ranking the country third globally for ML-supported research published across the prestigious Nature family of journals.
The report analyzed more than 5,000 ML-relevant scientific articles published between January 1 and September 30, 2025. Its data places India just behind China and the United States in terms of ML-enabled research output, reaffirming the country’s growing prominence in cutting-edge scientific innovation.
Researchers across India have increasingly integrated machine learning into disciplines such as medicine, climate science, materials research, and space technology—reflecting a broader shift toward computational and data-driven scientific discovery.
The report emphasizes that India’s rapid progress is propelled by expanding research infrastructure, rising investment in AI, and strong collaborations between academic institutions and industry.
