Inaugural BFI Cup begins in Chennai

Inaugural BFI Cup to Kick Off in Chennai from October 1

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) will host the inaugural BFI Cup in Chennai from October 1 to 7, aimed at providing upcoming boxers a clear pathway to the national camp.

The tournament will feature competitions in 10 categories for both men and women, with gold and silver medallists earning direct entry into the elite national camp. This initiative is expected to identify and nurture fresh talent for India’s boxing pipeline.

BFI President Ajay Singh said in a media release, “Indian boxing is undoubtedly on the rise and the BFI is committed to an athlete-centric approach that is already showing good results.”

The BFI Cup will not only offer competitive exposure to emerging boxers but also serve as a platform to strengthen India’s prospects in international boxing events. Coaches and selectors will closely monitor performances to identify potential stars for upcoming tournaments.

With the inaugural edition set to commence in Chennai, the federation hopes to make this a regular fixture in India’s boxing calendar, enhancing opportunities for young athletes nationwide.
