Odisha launches WhatsApp chatbot ‘Ama Sathi’

Odisha Govt Launches WhatsApp Chatbot ‘Ama Sathi’ to Provide 120 Public Services

In a major step towards digital governance and citizen-friendly services, the Odisha government on Friday launched a unified WhatsApp chatbot named ‘Ama Sathi’ (meaning my companion), enabling people across the state to access over 120 government services at their fingertips.

The initiative, launched by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, will allow citizens to conveniently obtain essential documents such as birth and income certificates, apply for driving and fertilizer licenses, and avail benefits under schemes like the National Family Benefits Scheme.

Available in both Odia and English, the chatbot has been designed as a “one-stop digital assistant” with voice-enabled support, ensuring easy access for people of all backgrounds. Citizens can access the services by messaging the dedicated WhatsApp number 9437292000.

Speaking on the occasion, officials said the chatbot reflects the state’s commitment to harnessing technology for transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric governance. By reducing the need for physical visits to government offices, Ama Sathi is expected to save time, cut paperwork, and enhance accessibility of public services, especially for those in rural areas.

With this launch, Odisha joins the growing number of states leveraging AI-driven chatbots and popular messaging platforms to bridge the gap between citizens and government services.
