ICG Commissions Fast Patrol Vessel ‘Adamya’ on Odisha Coast

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Friday commissioned a new fast patrol vessel (FPV) ‘Adamya’ at Paradip, significantly bolstering maritime security along the Odisha coast and the Bay of Bengal.

The vessel was formally commissioned by Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary (Defence Policy, Armed Forces Wing, CSD & Planning), during a ceremony held at Paradip.

Built by Goa Shipyard Limited, Adamya is part of a series of eight fast patrol vessels being delivered to the ICG to enhance coastal surveillance, search and rescue, and anti-smuggling operations.

Officials said the deployment of Adamya at Paradip will strengthen ICG’s operational capabilities in safeguarding India’s eastern coastline, ensuring safer seas for fishermen, traders, and seafarers.

The ICG has been steadily expanding its fleet of advanced vessels to counter emerging maritime challenges, with special focus on the Bay of Bengal region, which is a critical hub for trade, energy transport, and strategic security.
