I-T Dept Warns Against Transaction Emails

I-T Dept Asks Taxpayers to Ignore ‘Significant Transaction’ Emails
The Income Tax Department on Saturday urged taxpayers to ignore emails received regarding “significant transactions” under the Advance Tax e-Campaign, stating that some communications contained inaccurate details.
In a post on X, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said certain taxpayers had received emails flagging “significant transactions” allegedly undertaken by them as part of the ongoing Advance Tax e-Campaign for Assessment Year 2026–27 (Financial Year 2025–26).
The tax authority clarified that the information contained in some of these emails was incorrect and advised taxpayers not to rely on them.
“We are actively working to resolve this matter in coordination with our service provider. In the meantime, taxpayers are requested to kindly ignore the earlier email communication related to the Advance Tax e-Campaign for AY 2026–27 (Financial Year 2025–26),” the CBDT said.
The department added that steps are being taken to rectify the issue to ensure accurate communication with taxpayers. It also reassured taxpayers that further updates would be provided once the matter is resolved.
The Advance Tax e-Campaign is aimed at encouraging voluntary compliance by alerting taxpayers about financial transactions that may require disclosure while filing income tax returns.
