The operator of a hotel in Noida, where a tragic fire claimed the life of a customer last month, has been arrested on charges of negligence leading to death, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The arrested individual, identified as Bimlendu Jha (40), is the owner of the hotel located in Hazipur market near Sector 104. Authorities stated that the hotel was operating without the necessary approvals from the fire department and local authorities.

The incident, which occurred on May 19, resulted in the death of a 27-year-old woman who worked as a physiotherapist. She was staying at the Moon Light Hotel with her 26-year-old boyfriend when the fire broke out around 5 pm. Tragically, she succumbed to suffocation due to the fire, while her partner sustained injuries.

The arrest of the hotel operator underscores the seriousness of the situation and the authorities’ commitment to holding individuals accountable for negligence that results in loss of life. Operating a hotel without complying with fire safety regulations poses significant risks to guests and the surrounding community, as demonstrated by this tragic incident.

Officials have urged businesses and establishments to prioritize adherence to safety protocols and obtain the necessary permits to ensure the well-being of their patrons. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of stringent safety measures, particularly in hospitality establishments where the lives of guests are entrusted to the operators’ care.

As investigations into the fire incident continue, authorities are working to ensure that justice is served for the victim and her family. Measures to enhance fire safety awareness and enforcement of regulations are also being emphasized to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
