Historic Third Term for Prime Minister Lauded by Vice President Dhankhar

In a landmark acknowledgment, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar today highlighted the historical significance of the current government’s third consecutive term, a feat not achieved in the last sixty years. Addressing the participants of the Rajya Sabha Internship Programme at the Vice President’s enclave, Shri Dhankhar remarked, “It is for the first time since 1962 that a Prime Minister has got a third term,” underscoring the rarity and importance of this achievement.

Shri Dhankhar urged the interns to harness the power of social media to express their views responsibly and to remain vigilant against detrimental influences in democracy. He emphasized the importance of constructive debate, dialogue, and discussion in Parliament, encouraging the interns to mobilize public opinion if they notice any deviations from these principles.

“Bharat is not a sleeping giant; we are a country on the move, rising every day and every moment,” the Vice President proclaimed, reflecting on the nation’s dynamic progress. He advised the interns to refer to the Indian Constitution for clarity whenever in doubt, emphasizing its significance as a guiding document.

Describing the internship programme as a “Parliamentary Startup,” Shri Dhankhar highlighted its role in providing a new direction and enthusiasm for engaging with the country’s democratic processes. He pointed out that citizens can indirectly participate and raise public issues through petitions without being members of Parliament, showcasing an avenue for active civic engagement.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha Shri P.C. Mody, Secretary to the Vice President Shri Sunil Kumar Gupta, Secretary of the Rajya Sabha Shri Rajit Punhani, and other senior officials.

The Vice President’s address served as an inspiration to the interns, highlighting the critical role they can play in shaping the future of India’s democracy.
