‘Hero HIL is an exciting platform for the next generation of hockey,’ says Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers’ defender Rupinder Pal Singh

The Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers have bolstered their squad by securing the services of former Indian Men’s Hockey Team defender Rupinder Pal Singh in the Hero Hockey India League (HIL) auction for INR 12.5 lakhs.
At 34 years old, Rupinder Pal Singh returns to the league with a stellar record, having scored 234 goals in 223 appearances. Known for his remarkable drag-flick ability, Rupinder adds significant experience and skill to the Bengal Tigers’ defense line. His last appearance was in the historic Bronze medal match against Germany at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, marking a monumental achievement after a 42-year drought for an Olympic medal.
“I’m truly thrilled to return to the Hero Hockey India League,” said Rupinder Pal Singh. “This league provides a fantastic platform for players to showcase their talent, and I’m excited to play alongside players like Jugraj Singh, Abhishek, and Sukhjeet Singh. It’s a new chapter for me, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success.”
The Bengal Tigers’ roster is further strengthened with the inclusion of dynamic players such as Belgian forward Florent van Aubel, along with the young and talented Singh brothers, Abhishek and Sukhjeet.
“Playing against top international players will be a great challenge and an opportunity to improve. Teams like Harmanpreet and Gurinder bring a high level of competition, which keeps the league exciting. The Hero Hockey India League is a fantastic platform for the next generation of hockey to flourish,” Rupinder added.
The Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers are gearing up for a strong season, with their new star defender ready to lead the charge.
