Western Odisha Faces Intense Heatwave, Jharsuguda Hits 45.2°C
Western Odisha is currently enduring a severe heatwave, with Jharsuguda recording the highest temperature in the country at 45.2°C on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD reported that fourteen other places across Odisha have also experienced scorching temperatures of 40°C or more. Following Jharsuguda, other areas like Boudh recorded 44.6°C, while Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Bolangir saw 43.6°C each. Several other regions, including Angul, Titlagarh, and Balangir, also experienced temperatures above 43°C.
In addition, Sonepur recorded 42.8°C, Hirakud 42.7°C, and Rourkela 42.2°C. Other towns like Bhawanipatna, Nuapada, Talcher, Nayagarh, and Paralakhemundi saw temperatures ranging between 40°C to 42°C.
The intense heatwave has raised concerns over public health and agricultural conditions, prompting authorities to issue warnings and advise precautions for the general public to avoid heat-related health issues.
