Gukesh Felicitated by TN CM, State to Set Up Home of Chess Academy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday felicitated D Gukesh, the world’s youngest chess champion, at a state-organized function in Chennai.

Gukesh was awarded a Rs 5 crore cheque and a shawl by the Chief Minister as a token of appreciation for his outstanding achievement. Stalin also announced plans to establish a “Home of Chess Academy” under the state sports department to nurture young chess talents and support future champions from Tamil Nadu.

“Tamil Nadu boasts a rich chess heritage, with 31 out of India’s 85 grandmasters hailing from the state,” Stalin said. “This felicitation honors not only Gukesh but also all other talented individuals who have brought laurels to the state.”

The establishment of the Home of Chess Academy signifies the state government’s commitment to promoting chess and creating an environment conducive to the growth of young chess players.
