BJD to Conduct Organisational Elections in January
Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced that its organisational elections will take place in January 2025, as confirmed by Atanu S Nayak, the convenor of the party’s membership committee and a former minister.
Addressing the media on Monday, Nayak stated, “BJD president Naveen Patnaik has instructed us to conduct the organisational elections next month.”
The elections are a crucial aspect of the party’s internal functioning, allowing it to strengthen its grassroots network and reinforce its leadership structure ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The announcement comes amid heightened political activity in the state, with all major parties gearing up for electoral challenges. Details regarding the election schedule and process are expected to be released soon.
Founded in 1997, the BJD has been a dominant force in Odisha’s politics under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, who has been serving as the Chief Minister of Odisha since 2000. The organisational elections will play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s future strategies.
