Odisha Governor Urges Youth to Uphold Ethics, Knowledge, and Social Responsibility
Bhubaneswar – Highlighting the crucial role of youth in shaping the nation’s future, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati urged graduating students of Sambalpur University to become ethical, socially responsible, and globally competent citizens. Addressing the University’s convocation, he called upon students to embrace responsibility and service as they step into a new phase of their lives.
“Each one of you carries the torch to drive India forward and realise the dream of a Vikashit Bharat,” Dr. Kambhampati said, stressing that a convocation is more than a ceremonial event—it marks the beginning of a journey dedicated to serving society.
Reflecting on the University’s legacy since its establishment in 1967, the Governor praised Sambalpur University for nurturing generations of young minds and contributing significantly to the social and economic transformation of Western Odisha and beyond. He highlighted the University’s serene campus at Jyoti Vihar as a space where academic excellence is seamlessly blended with character-building and a spirit of service.
Dr. Kambhampati acknowledged the University’s recent efforts in enhancing academics, research, and innovation while remaining committed to social responsibility and excellence. He underscored the importance of education that goes beyond academic achievements, stating, “Knowledge without character cannot build a just and prosperous nation.”
Speaking about reforms in higher education, the Governor applauded the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as a transformative framework aligning India’s education system with global standards while staying rooted in cultural values. He observed that through interdisciplinary programmes, compulsory internships, and courses on entrepreneurship, environmental studies, and disaster management, Sambalpur University is actively implementing NEP’s objectives.
“These initiatives are equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving global landscape,” Dr. Kambhampati remarked, encouraging graduates to rise to the challenges and opportunities of the modern world while remaining grounded in ethical and socially conscious practices.
