Governor urges PMMY support for dairy farmers

Governor Bats for PMMY Linkage to Boost Dairy Farming in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has suggested linking dairy farmers to the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) to ensure easy access to bank loans and financial assistance for expanding dairy businesses.
During his visit to the OMFED Mega Dairy Plant at Govindpur, Arilo, Cuttack, the Governor stressed the need for close coordination with banks to provide timely support, which he said would motivate farmers and enhance milk production in the state.
Highlighting the challenges faced by farmers in arranging personal contributions under subsidy schemes, he said PMMY linkage could bridge the financial gap. He also directed OMFED to share beneficiary details under the Mukhya Mantri Kamdhenu Yojana with banks to streamline loan approvals.
“This initiative will not only boost milk production but also meet the growing demand in the state,” Dr. Kambhampati said. He assured that OMFED authorities could approach him directly if any banking issues arise.
The Governor also suggested door-to-door delivery of OMFED milk and allied products in urban areas to strengthen market outreach. During the visit, he inspected the dairy’s laboratory, ghee section, and product gallery, while OMFED officials presented a detailed overview of operations, marketing strategies, and product range.
