Jagannath Temple opens breastfeeding facility for mothers

Sri Jagannath Temple Introduces Breastfeeding Facility for Mothers
Puri, Sept 2 : In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration has introduced a dedicated breastfeeding facility inside the Srimandir to support mothers visiting with infants.
Temple Chief Administrator Arabind Padhee said many mothers had expressed discomfort in breastfeeding amid the large crowds during darshan. Responding to this need, the temple body had earlier resolved to establish such a facility for devotees.
The newly commissioned air-conditioned unit, situated within the temple premises, can accommodate up to four mothers at a time. To ensure comfort and safety, two women staff members from the Jagannath Temple Security have been deployed to manage the facility.
Padhee further informed that another breastfeeding unit is also planned along the Parikrama corridor of the temple, where doctors will be available to provide medical assistance if required.
The initiative has been widely welcomed as a step towards making the temple more inclusive and mother-friendly, offering a dignified space for nursing mothers amidst the spiritual environment.
