Family Denounces Fake Crowdfunding Campaign

Odisha: Family of Pahalgam Terror Victim Condemns Fake Crowdfunding Drive
The family members of Prashant Satpathy, a victim of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, have strongly denounced a crowdfunding campaign allegedly initiated without their consent. The campaign, which surfaced on various social media platforms, claims to be raising money to support Satpathy’s wife and son.
Disturbed by the unauthorized fundraiser, the family lodged a formal complaint at the Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station in Balasore. They allege that unknown individuals are exploiting their tragedy to collect money under false pretenses.
Speaking to reporters, Satpathy’s wife, Priya Darshani Achariya, made an emotional appeal to the public. “We have not given any consent to anyone for crowdfunding. We don’t need money from the public, but seek their good wishes and blessings for my departed husband. We don’t know the intention behind crowdfunding, but I appeal to all to stop the drive,” she said.
The family expressed concerns about the possible misuse of the collected funds and urged people to refrain from contributing to any such campaigns. Police officials have assured a thorough investigation into the matter and action against those responsible for the fraudulent fundraising effort.
Authorities have also cautioned the public to verify any fundraising initiatives before making contributions, especially in sensitive cases involving personal tragedies.
