Fadnavis, Pradhan Inaugurate New NMIMS, Mukesh Patel Tech Campuses in Mumbai
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated the newly developed state-of-the-art Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering and the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) building in Mumbai. The leaders also performed the Bhoomi Pujan for Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM)’s upcoming educational complex, marking a major leap forward in India’s higher education infrastructure.
The newly launched facilities include advanced laboratories and innovation hubs focused on Industry 4.0 technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and 3D Printing. These developments reaffirm the country’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and innovation aligned with global standards.
Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis praised the National Education Policy (NEP) for transforming India’s education landscape. “NEP has made our static system dynamic, promoting flexibility and opening new paths for students,” he said. Emphasizing the importance of a skilled workforce, Fadnavis added, “Human capital will drive the future economy, and developing this capital is key to achieving Viksit Bharat @2047.”
He highlighted Mumbai’s emerging status as the startup capital of India and emphasized the need to further strengthen the startup ecosystem. “We will incubate an environment for our youth to innovate, grow, and lead the country,” he said.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called NEP 2020 a philosophical roadmap for delivering quality education. He advocated for primary education in the mother tongue, citing global examples of educational success rooted in native languages. “Our children can become global leaders if they study in their mother tongue till Class 5,” he remarked.
Pradhan also urged the youth to become job creators. “Degrees alone are not enough. In this age of disruptive technology, competence is key. Use technology to solve global problems, uplift the underprivileged, and contribute to GDP growth,” he said.
Calling Mumbai the “engine of India’s economy” and the fourth-largest city economy in the world, Pradhan stressed the need for education to be India-centric, multidisciplinary, and technologically empowered.
Present at the event were SVKM and NMIMS Chancellor Amrish R. Patel, MLAs Ameet Satam and Parag Alavani, and former MLA Kripashankar Singh.
The inauguration marks a significant step in India’s pursuit of a world-class, innovation-driven educational ecosystem as envisioned under NEP 2020.
