Every effort for Tricolour, says Harmanpreet

Every effort will be for Indian Tricolour in WWC final: Harmanpreet
Navi Mumbai, Nov 1 : India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has said that “every run, every catch, and every effort in the Women’s World Cup final is for the Indian Tricolour,” calling it the proudest moment of her career as the team prepares to face South Africa in the grand finale at the DY Patil Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the high-stakes clash, Harmanpreet expressed confidence in her team’s unity and readiness, saying the players are fully charged and emotionally connected. “The squad is supporting one another, exchanging prayers and blessings — it reflects how prepared and united we are,” she said.
For many players, this will be their first World Cup final, and Harmanpreet emphasised that mental strength is as vital as technical skill. “I always tell my team that it’s okay to feel emotions, but we must enjoy the moment and keep moving forward,” she remarked, recalling how past defeats only strengthened their resolve to return stronger.
On managing pressure in a home final, the Indian skipper underlined the importance of focusing on smaller goals. “This is the biggest stage and the biggest opportunity. We are concentrating on giving our 100 per cent and being fully present for the team,” she said.
She also lauded the energy of home fans, particularly in Mumbai, for their unwavering support. “The crowd has been amazing. No matter what the situation, they are always there cheering for us — that motivates us even more,” she said.
Harmanpreet highlighted how women’s cricket in India has grown significantly in recent years and said a World Cup win would inspire more girls to take up the sport. “Support for women’s cricket is steadily increasing, and we want to make the country proud,” she added.
The Indian team, she noted, has trained to perform under all conditions, focusing equally on recovery, skill, and mental balance. Acknowledging South Africa as a formidable opponent, she said India is ready for the challenge.
“Pride in wearing the Tricolour, teamwork, and focus — these will be the keys to victory,” Harmanpreet concluded.
