Odisha Launches Airborne Health Camp in Remote Nabarangpur District

Bhubaneswar, July 7: In a major healthcare outreach initiative, the Odisha government on Monday launched a four-day health camp in the remote Nabarangpur district by airlifting a team of specialist doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. The camp is being held under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva’ scheme, which aims to deliver quality medical services to underserved regions of the State.

The health camp has already seen overwhelming response from local residents, with over 1,000 patients registered for specialised consultations and surgeries, officials said. Services being offered include general medicine, orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynaecology, and other critical care areas.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm among people here as they no longer need to travel to bigger cities for critical treatment,” said Sukant Satpathy, Additional Chief District Medical Officer (ADMO), Nabarangpur. He noted that the initiative has brought advanced medical care closer to home for hundreds of patients in the tribal-dominated and geographically isolated district.

The airlifting of medical professionals and equipment is part of a strategic plan by the State government to bridge healthcare gaps in backward and remote regions, ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment of serious ailments. The visiting medical team includes senior surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and paramedical staff, equipped to perform on-site procedures and refer critical cases for further care if required.

Officials stated that the health camp not only caters to immediate medical needs but also raises awareness about government healthcare schemes and preventive health measures.

The Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva initiative, launched to overcome logistical barriers in remote regions, continues to play a pivotal role in making healthcare more accessible and equitable across Odisha.
